Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer

Marc Sulit

Marc did this work himself before co-founding TaskMasters. He owns how the company recruits, screens and supports the people it places.

Marc Sulit, Co-founder and COO of TaskMasters

Marc came up on the other side of the desk, doing this work for business owners directly.

Before TaskMasters, Marc supported business owners directly. He knows what the job actually demands once the onboarding call is over: the week the bank feed breaks, the client who sends receipts in a shoebox, the month-end that has to close whether or not anyone answered your question.

That is why TaskMasters screens candidates on real work rather than on a résumé. A tidy CV tells you someone can write a CV. Watching them clean up a deliberately messy ledger tells you whether they can do the job.

It is also why the check-ins land at two weeks and thirty days rather than at the end of a quarter. Most fit problems show up early and are cheap to fix there. Left alone, the same problem becomes a replacement.

Accountable for

What Marc owns

  • Recruiting and screening every candidate
  • The skills testing: what gets tested and where the pass mark sits
  • Training and ongoing support once someone is placed
  • The two-week and thirty-day check-ins
  • The onboarding handover between a new accountant and the client
  • Deciding when a placement is not working, before the client has to say it

The vetting Marc runs

How a candidate gets to you

  • Degreed
  • QuickBooks-certified
  • Skills-tested through TestGorilla
  • Under NDA before any access

Every candidate completes a skills assessment scored through TestGorilla, on live work in QuickBooks, Xero and Excel. A degree and a certificate get someone into the process. The test is what decides whether they go any further.

Before a placement is given access to anything, they sign a comprehensive NDA, and you decide what they can see. We recommend a user-level login of their own rather than your password, and read-only bank feeds where possible.

After the start date, Marc's team checks in with you and your bookkeeper at two weeks and again at thirty days, while a fit problem is still small and cheap to fix.

In his words

Why this work

You can teach software. You cannot teach someone to tell you early that they are stuck. That is the thing I screen hardest for, because it is the difference between a small problem and a lost month.
